The Youth Charter Pakistan Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Delegation Workshop was an important and significant milestone in the sport for development journey in providing social, cultural and political impact in the potential benefits to young people and communities, in particular those of disaffection and disadvantage, in the delivery of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

This was in follow up to the WASD Conference in Geneva where the Youth Charter and the Pakistan Youth Minister’s youth representative presented the power of sport to engage, equip and empower young people to develop in life.

Days later, the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games provided many examples of the diversifying and inspirational reflection of the continents of the world and inspired a legacy pledge to create a more responsible, sustainable, inclusive, and united event and leave a lasting mark on society and provide more opportunities for people to participate in sports.

In a week that saw the Prime Minister of Pakistan visit Britain following a speech at the recent UN Assembly in New York, where he advocated the need for global youth empowerment and contribution to the challenges and issues that we face as a global community, the Pakistan Youth Delegation, who are part of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme that sets a precedent that other Commonwealth nations and the world might well follow.

This report outlines how the Community Campus can provide a meaningful, sustainable and evidenced impact at a time where it is now being acknowledged that we will see no progress made in how the UN Sustainable Development Goals meet their intended targets and more significantly have any meaning, relevance or indeed impact in the lives of young people and society as a whole.

It is still the Youth Charter’s belief that, as we launch this report, as the Commonwealth Heads of Government are soon to be convened in Samoa and with Pakistan’s Chairing of the Commonwealth Ministers for Youth Forum, a unique opportunity presents itself in the ability of the Youth Charter Community Campuses to provide the holistic and integrated socio-political and cultural framework that can contribute the power of sport in all of its unifying and unique ability to not only provide hope and opportunity to the youth of the Commonwealth, but also to the wider global community.
